JERN 14ES

Compared to the JERN®14 DS, the ES version has a lower resistance coil in the crossover, screened vibration reducing Teflon insulated wires, and sheep wool inside. Rubber rings medfølger.

JERN14 is the new revolutionary compact speaker from JERN. It is delicate and discreet but delivers audio quality as a floorstander. The key to its performance is all in its design, components and choice of materials.
JERN is not a mass producer of speakers. Each speaker remains essentially handbuilt by craftsmen with decades of experience at their fingertips.

The name JERN14:

In Danish, JERN means IRON which refers to the cabinet material. The number 14 is its weight in kilos (approximately 30 pounds).

Design

Speakers are a part of our homes just like any other piece of furniture or art, and to most people it is important to have a beautiful and stylish home.
JERN14 differs from other high end speakers because the choice of material and casting method allows our designers and engineers to create new shapes that improve the performance instead of regular square boxes that compromises the sound quality.

The detailed surface of each speaker is unique to that single speaker. It is just like fingerprints; they look similar but in detail there is no other just like yours.

A new generation

The iron for the cabinet is made from recycled materials and is good for a lifespan of more than a century.

Sound quality is an assessment of the accuracy and enjoyability when it comes to audio output from an electronic device. Sound is all about canalising the soundwaves out of the speaker and reducing vibrations within the cabinet. Different materials give different vibration levels. Traditionally, speakers are made from wood because of its low weight and ability to reduce vibrations. AUDIOFORM focuses on the perfect sound which is the cornerstone in our production, design, components and choice of materials. JERN14 speakers are made from vibration free iron that reduce vibrations up to 50 times better than conventional wood. This is our key component to the crisp clean sound JERN14 delivers.

AUDIOFORM Technology:

CDS Cast Dome Structure

CDS is a surface of small domes on the inside of the speaker cabinet. The cast cone surface subdue and spread standing sound waves that are the key to providing a complete acoustically neutral cabinet.

OPC One Piece Cabinet

Our OPC sand cast technology makes it possible to create the entire cabinet in one durable structure, which allows a solid mounting of the speaker unit, which contributes to a vibration free cabinet and a much longer lifespan of the speaker.

UFS Unique Fingerprint Surface

Each of our speakers have a unique surface. It is uniquely created when the iron flows into the mould. The unique patterns are just like fingerprints which means that there are never two speakers that are exactly the same.
Finally the cabinet gets a high quality powder coating.

LRM Low resonance material

LRM is our technology flagship and one of the most important factors when it comes to reducing vibrations within the cabinet. The cabinet of JERN14 has an ability to reduce vibrations 50 times better than other conventional speaker materials.

Crossover

Our crossover is custom-made and designed to deliver the best signal for the drive units as possible. We only use high quality components from Mundorf to provide a strong signal throughout the crossover. The high quality components and the dimensions ensure a very long lifespan and that the sound characteristics will stay the same and not gradually change over time.

Dome Structure Inside

The inside surface of the speaker is made of domes which work as the walls in a sound studio. It neutralizes any standing soundwaves because there are no parallel surfaces. This dome structure surface contributes to the clean and precise reproduction of the sound exactly as it was recorded. The domes are cast in the cabinet which means no assembled parts can fail over time.

Cabinet

Sandcasting by the Cronig method makes it possible to craft the cabinet in one piece with no assembled parts. The one piece cast cabinet made from our low resonance material gives the speaker a stiffness that conventional cabinets, assembled from several parts will never achieve. The cabinet of JERN14 is so strong that it can withstand a load of 5 ton. The toughness and durability of the cabinet make it impossible for even a heavy metal track to generate any vibrations in the cabinet. This means that there will never be any vibrations from the cabinet that can interrupt the output quality.

Jern14 is prepared and shaped in one piece before the casting. A CNC machined model is used for producing a sand mold which is assembled around a core that provides the inner geometry. Gray iron is melted at 1450 degrees celcius before it is cast into the mould. The quality of the casting is checked with a spectrometer. After cooling, the cabinet is cleaned and its dimensions and tolerances checked. After checking, the cabinet is ready for processing.
The cast iron cabinet makes it possible to mount the drive units solid to the cabinet which is very important for the ability of the speakers to deliver clean audio, free of vibrations.

Unique Fingerprint Surface

Each speaker has a unique surface which is created when the iron flows into the mould. It is a unique pattern that are just like fingerprints; there are never two speakers that are exactly the same.

Finally, the cabinet gets a high quality powder coating.

Advanced CAD Geometry

The one piece cabinet design is made possible by the advanced CAD geometry method. This method gives our designers and engineers the ability to create the ideal shapes for maximum performance without the limitations of wood, which most conventional speakers are made of.

Low Resonance Material

The cornerstone in reducing vibrations are the cabinet material. Manufacturing cabinets with the sand cast method makes it possible to choose materials with a density that is more than ten times greater than conventional cabinet materials. We produce our cabinets in a very unusual material for speakers: gray iron. The material is well known for its ability to reduce vibrations and is used in almost all iron engine blocks.
The combination of material and the one piece design is what gives Audioform speakers a distortion free sound with absolutely no interruption from a vibrating cabinet.
