SPACE HORN: A STATEMENT IN TERMS OF BASS

How does a horn loaded bass system feel and sound? Avantgarde Acoustic is developing a new bass horn, because they know: bass horns are the premier class in speaker construction. No other subwoofer system is even halfway comparable. With the development of the new SpaceHorn, the men and women at Avantgarde Acoustic have faced one of the greatest technological challenges.

The SpaceHorn is the latest generation of the BassHorn, which was developed over 20 years ago. Together with the Trio G3, the duo achieves absolute icon status.

IMPROVED HORN HISTORY: LIVING IN SPACEHORN

This time, however, some things have been changed and improved. The SpaceHorn's horn path has been completely redesigned to enable improved sound transformation in the room levels (floor, back and side walls). The room is seen here as part of the course of the horn. So your home becomes part of the new SpaceHorn. You basically live IN the SpaceHorn.

In addition, the driver was repositioned and the horn path optimized. It has been lengthened by around 40% compared to its predecessor. This causes a significant increase in radiation resistance and thus an improvement in acoustic performance.

Is it possible to perfect something perfect from further? Yes! With the SpaceHorn, the efficiency in the range between 40 and 100 Hz was averaged to increase by 5 dB. The XB12 bass driver therefore has to move even less at the same volume. This ensures less distortion and an even crisper sound.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE XB12 BASS DRIVER

The XB12 is arguably the most powerful driver ever designed for a large horn-loaded bass system. The voice coil has been increased from 100mm to 153mm for even higher power handling while reducing power compression. The motor structure consists of two high-grade magnets, which are magnetized in Europe's largest 200,000 volt system. The power of the permanent magnet with a flux density of 1.15 Tesla is transferred through the huge voice coil to a voice coil diameter of 480mm. This is an increase of over 50% compared to the previous model!

The new single-frame chassis of the XB12 has robust die-cast aluminum cantilevers, which also enclose the magnet, for an absolutely stable material composite around the moving components of the motor structure. For an additional 6dB reduction in distortion, the XB12 is connected to the horn mouth – new compared to its predecessor – via the Avantgarde Acoustic AirGate.

A DIGITAL PROCESSOR ON BOARD...

The amplifier is equipped with an advanced digital sound processor. With a level of precision and bit accuracy unachievable with analog technology, the digital crossover eliminates all passive filtering elements in the signal path. The revised user interface allows easy and intuitive use. All parameters can be easily adapted to the room conditions or listening habits. The complete cabling for network and signal is integrated in a concealed cable duct

SINGLE & TWIN DRIVE

The SpaceHorn comes in two different sized versions. The single drive variant comes with a single XB12 bass driver. The height of this version is 492mm. This flat structure is particularly suitable for standing installation on the rear or side wall. 

The Twin Drive version is the one with two XB12 bass drivers. The overall height of this version is 748mm and is particularly suitable for a horizontal central installation of several stacked modules in large installations.

Both versions are 100% compatible with each other and can be used in combination in one system. This means that in the first expansion stage of the TRIO G3 it is possible to start with two single drive SpaceHornAA modules in a standing arrangement and expand the system at a later point in time with two or more twin drive modules in a central arrangement.
