Since the launch of the (quite literally) monumental four-tower Gryphon Poseidon semi-active loudspeaker system in 2004 with built-in 1,000 Watt bass amplification, Gryphon Audio Designs have been widely acknowledged as masters of both electronics and loudspeakers.

Few High End manufacturers on either side of the electronics/loudspeaker divide have even attempted to bridge that gap. Now, the Gryphon Kodo introduces all-new technologies, parts, assembly techniques and materials to reaffirm the brand’s unique position.

Carrying on from the now legendary Poseidon, Gryphon has continued to explore the many benefits of a closer integration of electronics and loudspeakers.

Like every loudspeaker ever made by Gryphon, the Gryphon Kodo ensures that all drivers are in phase at all frequencies at all times. Based on the ground-breaking synchronous filter theories developed by the late Danish mathematician Steen Duelund, Gryphon loudspeakers achieve inter-driver phase for phase-matched behaviour between multiple drivers that no other manufacturer can claim.

The four tower system stands 2.37 meters tall, incorporating 38 of the world’s finest drive units.

The MDF side panels of the tower modules are reinforced with 5 mm aluminium panels. The stacked modules incorporate additional 8 mm aluminium panel supports. The form moulded curved exterior panels of laminated High-Density Fibreboard are damped with bitumen.

The solid aluminium base for each tower is fitted with adjustable, polyoxometalate feet.

Each Gryphon Kodo bass tower houses eight custom designed 8” drive units and a built-in Gryphon power amplifier capable of 1,000 Watts continuous output into the drivers. For ultimate headroom, peak power is approximately 4,000 Watts or 4.5 horsepower.

Gryphon Kodo offers highly desirable features such as remote adjustment of bass level from the listening position, low and high cut filters and user-selectable bass system Q to match system Q to the listening room’s own Q for superior bass performance.

The centre of the Kodo upper-frequency towers is a Mundorf Air Motion Transformer high frequency driver isolated in its own enclosure. Directly above and below it are bass/mid modules, each housing two 4” Scanspeak Illuminator midrange drivers and three proprietary 5” Gryphon midbass drivers.

Each driver is individually mounted in its own independent front baffle attached to a sub baffle to disrupt the pathway through which vibrations would otherwise be transmitted in a single, shared baffle.

Within the modules, three mid/bass units and two midrange units are housed in two separate, isolated chambers to prevent any unwanted interaction and reinforce structural integrity.

The 11 drivers share the workload from 200 Hz to 25 kHz. The mid/high tower is extremely efficient, 96 dB (1 Watt, 2.83V, 1 meter) with an impedance that never dips below 4 Ohms, making the passive tower a very amplifier-friendly load.

The singular combination of Duelund Constant Phase technology, active Q control and dedicated, self-powered bass system promise an exceptional detailed, immersive listening experience.

The Kodo Owners Club

With the Gryphon Kodo, it is our objective to set new standards, not only for realistic sound reproduction and uncompromising design and build quality, but also for what an owner can expect in return when making such a major investment and declaration of trust. The following services represent a direct commitment from Gryphon Audio Designs, independently of the local distributor.
1. The system will be installed in the home by the local distributor after specialised Kodo training using dedicated equipment to ensure the finest possible performance within the available physical framework.
2. Three months after installation, a specialist from Gryphon Audio Designs in Denmark will visit the owner to carry out a thorough evaluation and final system calibration. He will also personally deliver a personalised, custom serial number plate engraved with the owner’s name.
3. For a three-month period following the purchase of Kodo, the owner is entitled to an exceptional 15% rebate on any additional Gryphon product from the same dealer.
4. Every three months for the first two years, the Kodo owner will receive direct from Gryphon an exclusive, specially curated Limited Edition CD (Kodo owners only) with reference quality recordings.
5. The Kodo system is covered by an extended 10-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
